Georgia’s Radical New Senator Says Gun Buying Process ‘Not Long Enough’ — Waiting Periods Bills Are Coming Fast!

Just days after a madman shot several women at a massage parlor in Georgia, Georgia’s two new Democrat Senators are trying to turn the event into a racially motivated hate crime — and are pushing to increase gun control as a result.

The Guardian reported on the crimes — and Warnock’s subsequent denial of the facts:

Law enforcement officials including the director of the FBI have said the shootings in Atlanta in which eight people were killed do not appear to have been racially motivated, but the Georgia senator Raphael Warnock said on Sunday: “We all know hate when we see it.”

Six women of Asian descent, another woman and a man were killed on Tuesday, in a shootings at spas in the Atlanta area.

Robert Aaron Long, a 21-year-old white man, was charged with the murders. He told police his actions were not racially motivated, and claimed to have a sex addiction.

Speaking to NPR on Thursday, the FBI director, Christopher Wray, said: “While the motive remains still under investigation at the moment, it does not appear that the motive was racially motivated.”

Not content to ignore the two white victims in their desire to further the divisive narrative of the left, Warnock also made comments about adding longer waiting periods to the process of buying a gun.

The Guardian continued:

Calling for “reasonable gun reform”, Warnock also linked official responses to the Atlanta shootings to efforts by Republicans to restrict voting among minority groups.

“This shooter was able to kill all of these folks the same day he purchased a firearm,” Warnock said. “But right now, what is our legislature doing? They’re busy under the gold dome here in Georgia, trying to prevent people from being able to vote the same day they register.

“I think that suggests a distortion in values. When you can buy a gun and create this much carnage and violence on the same day, but if you want to exercise your right to vote as an American citizen, the same legislature that should be focused on this is busy erecting barriers to that constitutional right.”

Long bought a 9mm handgun at Big Woods Goods. Matt Kilgo, a lawyer for the store, told the Associated Press it complies with federal background check laws and is cooperating with police, with “no indication there’s anything improper”.

So instead of admitting that the gun control laws they’re currently pushing in the form of H.R. 8 — Universal Background Checks — don’t actually stop bad people intent on doing bad things, the left wants to pile more gun control laws onto law-abiding citizens.

They could ask cities like Chicago how that’s worked out, but they won’t.

The AP got on the bandwagon, noting that prominent gun control group, the Giffords Law Center, also was pushing for  waiting periods after the massage parlor shootings.  Giffords Law Center executive director Robyn Thomas said:

“It’s really quick. You walk in, fill out the paperwork, get your background check and walk out with a gun. If you’re in a state of crisis, personal crisis, you can do a lot of harm fairly quickly.”

The AP article went on to point out that the anti-gun crowd often “say mandating a window of even a couple of days between the purchase of a gun and taking possession can give more time for background checks and create a “cooling off” period for people considering harming themselves or someone else.”

What the AP doesn’t say is that the places that have waiting periods already?  They have dramatically higher crime than the average city in America!  For example, Illinois requires a three day waiting period, but rather than lowering crime, the Chicago Tribune admits that 567 people were shot January 1, 2021, through March 15, 2021, in Chicago alone!

Waiting Period Legislation Is Waiting In The Wings

Facts won’t stop the left from working to pass ‘waiting periods’ legislation. We reported several weeks ago when South Carolina Democrat James Clyburn filed H.R. 1446, a mandatory ten-day waiting period bill.  That bill has passed the House but has not yet been called for a vote in the Senate.

Meanwhile, another ‘waiting periods’ bill has been filed, H.R. 1752,  this one a three-day waiting period — just in case the more radical H.R. 1446 doesn’t make it through the Senate!

You see, the left is always working to push the narrative to the left — because moderate Republicans and RINOS are often happy to choose the ‘lesser of two evil’ gun control bills!  If they can tell their constituents that they ‘staved off’ a ten-day waiting periods bill by compromising on a three-day waiting periods bill, they will!  And what’s worse, they’ll paint themselves as the hero of gun rights while they do it!

Enough is enough.  The left is going to push for every single gun control law they can conceive of on any pretext.  It’s the right that needs to stand up and do something about it.
