Atlanta, GA –The results of the Presidential election in Georgia and the two contested Senate runoff races have convinced the anti-gun legislators in Atlanta that now is the time to attack Georgia’s Stand-Your-Ground law.
Already last year, before the political winds had started to blow in their favor, Stacy Abrams and the radical left in Atlanta had filed a bill to repeal Georgia’s current law.
They’re at it again, this time filing Senate Bill 135, hoping to use the momentum from their recent victories to push through their nasty gun control — and strip away Georgia’s gun rights!
In fact, the bill, filed by Senator Gloria Butler, already has fifteen cosponsors including: Kim Jackson, Nan Orrock, Elena Parent, Nikki Merritt, Valencia Seay, Sally Harrell, Sheikh Rahman, Gail Davenport, Harold Jones, Emanuel Jones, Freddie Sims, Tonya Anderson, Michelle Au, and Michael “Doc” Rhett.
The Current Law Gives Gun Owners Legal Protection
Georgia’s current Stand-Your-Ground law provides protections for gun owners when they’re facing a violent attacker. Some of these include:
- Protection from a requirement to retreat. Since 2006, Georgians didn’t have to retreat a certain number of steps from a violent attacker before they could defend themselves.
- Protection in the form of civil immunity provisions. These ensured that gun owners didn’t have to worry about an entangling and expensive civil suit if they’ve been found innocent of any criminal wrongdoing.
- Protection if you have to pull your gun out but don’t end up using it. For example, if a gun owners is forced to draw their gun to stop a violent assault but the sight of the gun makes the attacker reconsider his life choices — so the gun owner doesn’t end end up shooting him — then the gun owner can’t be charged with ‘brandishing a firearm’ or any other silly charges that a leftist prosecuting attorney might like to throw at them.
By repealing Stand-Your-Ground law, the left would make it “more risky” to carry a gun, because without those protections, even if you’re justified in using your gun to stop a violent attack, your life could still be ruined!
Abrams And Her Radical Friends Hate Stand-Your-Ground Law
The leftist media, radicals like Stacy Abrams, Bloomberg’s out-of-state lobbyists and even some turncoat members of the Republican caucus might support gun control — but Georgians don’t.
Gun owners in Georgia have watched as spineless Republicans have sold out their constituents left and right in the last several months. In fact, with the exception of Marjorie Taylor Greene, it seems like there’s a lot of dead weight in the Republican party of Georgia!
Many of these supposedly ‘pro-gun’ legislators would complain that they can’t help that they’ve compromised — after all, they’re facing immense pressure to drift left and compromise with the anti-gun crowd!
And some are such sellout cowards that they want to appear more moderate and left-leaning so they avoid taking any heat from the Democrats and not have to face a primary election!

For Georgians, they need a state gun group that’s willing to fight like a dog to preserve their gun rights. Most know that the NRA isn’t going to be able to help them — they’re up to their necks in their own problems!
But there is a huge and powerful grassroots army of gun owners in Georgia who aren’t going to sit back and let their elected politicians compromise their gun rights and repeal their beautiful Stand Your Ground law!
