Virginia’s Largest School District Gives Students an Excused Absence Day to Protest

Falls Church, VA — With America’s attention focused on Sunday’s shooting in Texas, the showdown in Virginia seems to have taken a back burner.

But as usual, the left doesn’t rest.

The Fairfax County Public School district in Virginia recently announced that they will be giving students one excused absence per school year “to participate in civic activities such as protests.”

This is no small thing, since the Fairfax County School district is one of the largest school districts in the entire United States.  They have more than 187,000 students from Kindergarten through Twelfth grade.

The Policy Details

All students from 7th to 12th grade will be given one day starting January 27, 2020.  They must give two days written notice.  They also must provide a signed permission slip from parents.  The student must also stop by the school campus at least once during their ‘excused absence’ day so as to not count against the school’s accreditation requirements.

The idea was put before the school board by board member Ryan McElveen.  McElveen was proud that their school district was leading the way, saying, “I think we’re setting the stage for the rest of the nation with this.  It’s a dawning of a new day in student activism, and school systems everywhere are going to have to be responsive to it.”

A new day in student activism.  Hmmm…it seems we’ve seen a bit of student activism on the issue of gun control in recent months.

Which Side Suggests Students to March in Protest?

If you’re thinking that this is basically an example of a school giving their kids a free pass to protest gun rights or any other Conservative cause, you’re not alone.

After all, skipping school isn’t exactly how conservatives accomplish their goals, but it’s something that Any Clown for Gun Safety and Marx for Our Lives have done time and again.

Meira Levinson, a Harvard Professor who studies America’s education system agreed.  She said, “Kids on the right who are active, they tend to be doing it by preparing to run for school board or being aides in legislature.”

Gun control advocates like to be revolutionary. It’s part of their handbook to destroy the social order, to cause upheaval.  Meanwhile, most on the right still teach our children to respect authority.  Or to recognize that we might not know everything at 18 that our ancestors did when they built our country.

But the left has given us an entire generation of young people who think they know better than every single generation that came before them.

David Hogg and Co Would Agree

Folks, we’ve seen big anti-gun protests at schools across the country.  We know that Bloomberg and his deep-pocket leftist friends have poured money into Virginia.  We know that Marx for Our Lives and other “student” organizations are just fronts for these rich old leftists who would turn our kids against everything we believe.

If you live in Virginia, one perk of this policy would be you can pull your kids out for a day to go to the capital to tell Northam to shove it!
