Here is the latest email alert from Iowa Gun Owners:
Dear Iowa Gun Owner,
While many gun owners are focused on what’s happening to our gun rights — or not happening to our gun rights — in Des Moines, we can’t take our eye off of Washington, D.C.
As we’ve warned you about for some time, ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ legislation is the most dangerous threat that gun owners have faced in decades!
That’s because rather than attack a specific firearm or accessory, ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ legislation allows a gun owner to have ALL of his firearms seized before ever setting foot in a court room.
Making matters far worse, the NRA is publicly supporting this legislation and is strongly urging Congress to pass this bill, as we previously reported!
And that’s why it’s urgent that you sign the petition that we’ve prepared for you, calling on US Senators Charles Grassley and Joni Ernst to OPPOSE ‘Red Flag Gun Seizures!’
You see, the US Senate Judiciary Committee has announced their intention to conduct hearings on this legislation in Washington in just two weeks!
And with both Senators Grassley and Ernst on the Judiciary Committee, Iowans have an important part to play in stopping the advancement of this legislation.
If enacted, ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ legislation would allow virtually anyone to make a claim that you are a danger to yourself or someone else — and petition a judge to order you stripped of your firearms via a secret hearing.
Known as ex-parte proceedings, these hearings take place in your absence. This means you will have no ability to question your accuser, provide your own evidence, or testify in your own defense.
In fact, the first time you will be made aware of this is when law enforcement officers come to your home to seize your firearms.
In other words, your right to keep and bear arms will be obliterated via a secret court hearing, and before you’ve been CHARGED, ARRESTED, OR CONVICTED OF ANYTHING!
While Senator Grassley used to be the chairman of this committee, and while he is still on the committee, Senator Lindsey Graham is now the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee.
Don’t forget, Senator Graham has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from NYC anti-gun kingpin, Michael Bloomberg, meaning that this bill will have Graham’s active support.
The only way that we can stop this bill is to remind the lawmakers on this committee, especially those who are up for reelection, that gun owners are 100% opposed to this!
I don’t know about you, but the very idea that Senate Republicans are giving Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein, and Michel Bloomberg exactly what they want is infuriating.
Rather than be on offense and pass pro-gun bills like National Reciprocity legislation, Senator Graham and his allies are telegraphing their willingness to play ball with radical gun control.
So please sign your petition opposing this bill.
From radio ads to massive amounts of targeted social media, Iowa Gun Owners needs to be ready to roll out a huge program to pour calls and emails into Grassley and Ernst’s office.
Thank you, in advance, for your support!
Iowa Gun Owners
P.S. Bloomberg-funded US Senator Lindsey Graham has announced that the Judiciary Committee is holding hearing on ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ legislation in Washington, D.C. on March 26!
This is a very dangerous sign, especially with the NRA supporting this bill.
