Home Invasion Stopped by Armed Indiana Homeowner

(Hammond, Indiana) – Three residents at a home in the 6400 block of Woodward Avenue were awakened last week, just after 7:30AM, by a violent suspect who broke into their house and announced a robbery.

The suspect told the residents that he knew they possessed a safe, and forced them into the basement to have them open it.

According to Lieutenant Steve Kellogg, that’s when a fourth resident of the home confronted the suspect with his own handgun, shooting him multiple times in self-defense.

Kellogg confirmed that the residents of the home are cooperating with the authorities, and that they were in fear for their life, prompting the self-defense shooting.
