(Cypress, Texas) – When Pastor Lorenzo Martinez and his wife fell asleep in their home off of Willowbrook Drive last week, they certainly did not expect to be in a fight for their life later that night.
But that’s exactly what happened, as police report that a violent criminal broke down their front door and entered their home — almost naked — and began to violently assault the couple in their residence.
According to Lorenzo’s adult daughter, Naarai Olvera, the suspect viciously attacked the couple, possibly breaking Mrs. Lorenzo’s nose.
Investigators reported that the suspect, who they believe was high on drugs, then moved to other portions of the house and broke into a bedroom where Lorenzo’s son-in-law and several of his children were spending the night.
Fearing for his safety, Lorenzo’s son-in-law immediately opened fire and killed the suspect in the bedroom.
Olvera said, “We had to do what we had to do to protect our family and protect our little kids.”
No charges are expected to be filed in this case, as Texas is a Stand–Your–Ground state.
