(Orlando) – The residents at the Regency Gardens Apartments near Pershing Avenue were asleep shortly before three in the morning last Thursday when a group of armed home invaders forced their way inside.
According to the authorities, the suspects, who have not yet been identified, opened fire immediately. The victims in the apartment, who did not know the intruders, returned fire, wounding one of the suspects and ending the attack.
According to Orlando police Lieut. Daniel Brady, none of the victims were injured. Brady said that the intruders possibly left the scene in a silver Volkswagen.
While the case is ongoing, it appears unlikely that the victims will face any charges, as Florida is a “Stand-Your-Ground” state.
