Armed Carjacking Stopped by Armed Citizen

(Tucson, AZ) – Authorities in Tucson are reporting an attempted carjacking in the 2800 block of E. Manchester St., involving an armed suspect who displayed his weapon at the driver.

According to Sgt. Pete Dugan, that’s when the driver pulled his own handgun and shot at the suspect, breaking off the attack and sending the suspect fleeing.

The suspect showed up at a nearby hospital a short time later with life-threatening injuries but is expected to survive.

No charges have been filed against either party at this time. Arizona is a Stand-Your-Ground state, which means the victims of violent crime are under no obligation to retreat before defending themselves.
