BREAKING: Steve Chabot Votes for Feinstein Gun Control

(Washington, DC) — Despite running campaigns claiming to support the Second Amendment, Ohio Republican Congressman Steve Chabot cast his vote in the House Judiciary Committee in favor of Dianne Feinstein’s NICS Government Database bill (HR 4477 / S 2135).

The members and supporters of multiple Second Amendment organizations including Ohio Gun Owners, Gun Owners of America and the National Association for Gun Rights asked him to vote against the legislation.

Chabot cannot say that “all my colleagues voted for it” because fellow Ohio Republican Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) and FIVE more Republican colleagues on the House Judiciary Committee voted AGAINST the bill.

In fact, this bill would have died had Chabot not locked arms with EIGHT anti-gun Democrats and a eight other turncoat Republicans to pass the bill out of committee.

This is how Gun Owners of America described the bill:

“would add hundreds of thousands of additional names into the NICS system, thus blocking thousands of lawful gun owners from purchasing guns for offenses as slight as unpaid traffic tickets.”

Here’s the list of the nine Republican turncoats, including Steve Chabot:

Bob Goodlatte (VA-6)

Steve Chabot (OH-1)

Ted Poe (TX-2)

Tom Marino (PA-10)

John Ratcliffe (TX-4)

Martha Roby (AL-2)

Mike Johnson (LA-4)

Karen Handel (GA-6)

John Rutherford (FL-4)

Here’s a shot of the actual Republican vote count from the Committee Hearing.

The Republicans only had enough votes for passage by getting eight Democrat votes.

Otherwise the bill would have failed in committee

So you know exactly how dangerous this bill is, here’s the entire HR 4477 statement from Gun Owners of America:

“Finally, Gun Owners of America condemns the committee’s approval of the ‘Traffic Ticket Gun Ban’ (H.R. 4477).

This deceptive legislation would add hundreds of thousands of additional names into the NICS system, thus blocking thousands of lawful gun owners from purchasing guns for offenses as slight as unpaid traffic tickets.

Not only that, it would lay the groundwork for an anti-gun administration to troll every government health and welfare program for the purpose of imposing gun bans on recipients with PTSD, ADHD, and Alzheimer’s — the latter would jeopardize the inheritance of many valuable gun collections.

The Obama administration already tried to do this with Social Security disability.

In the future, there may not be a pro-gun Congress to disapprove similar moves or a pro-gun president to sign it.”
