(Sac City, Iowa) – A Fort Dodge man is recovering in the hospital after being shot multiple times by a homeowner.
As first reported by KTIV News, Benji Joseph attempted to force entry into an apartment at 211 S. 5th St. in this central Iowa town just after 4 AM.
According to the authorities, one of the residents of the home, Miguel Alcantara, shot Joseph twice with a 9mm pistol as he feared for his safety.
Joseph was taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital, and is facing charges that include burglary in the 3rd degree, as well as burglary in the 1st degree.
No charges are expected against Alcantara, Iowa is a Stand–Your-Ground law state.
