(McMinnville, Oregon) – In what is being described as an out of character event for the neighborhood, police are confirming a shooting in the 1300 block of Gilorr St early Sunday morning.
According to the authorities, the homeowners were alerted to the sounds of a suspect trying to break into their home and opened fire on him in self-defense.
While the names of the suspect and the homeowners are being withheld, friends of the suspect are reporting that he sustained severe injuries.
Police report that the homeowners are cooperating with the authorities, and that the Yamhill County District Attorney’s Office will be deciding whether or not they will be facing any charges.
Oregon has been a hotbed of gun-control in the recent past, with the would-be victims of crime all too often facing charges by partisan prosecutors.
