Resident Uses Knife To Fend Off Drugged Criminal

(Wilkes-Barre, PA) – A drugged out criminal was lucky to escape with his life when he attacked homeowners and responding police on Friday night.

23-year-old Fernando Bracero arrived at a North Empire Street residence at 2am, under the influence of drugs, and started violently attacking the other residents. Fearing for their lives, one quick-thinking resident grabbed a kitchen knife and slashed the attacker on his arm.

When police arrived on the scene, the thug launched himself on an officer and began pummeling him multiple times until he could be apprehended by other officers.

Bracero faces aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct charges.

None of the local residents were severely harmed in the attack, thanks to the brave resident who fought Bracero off with a knife.
