(Cherokee County, GA) – When two masked man broke into a home off of Old Mill Rd. just after midnight, Mindy Lingerfelt and her husband’s only concern was for their 3-yr old daughter’s safety.

So when the two masked men tried to tie Lingerfelt’s husband’s hands behind his back, he took action and knocked a dresser over on the two as he lunged for the pistol that he kept under their mattress.

Police say the two suspects shot at the homeowners, who immediately fired back as the suspects fled the scene — leaving a gun and duct tape behind in their haste.

Investigators have identified one of the two as 29-yr old Justin Pruitt. The other suspect remains at large.

“He’s considered armed and dangerous at this point and if anyone comes across him, just call 911,” Cherokee County Sgt. Marianne Kelley said.
